Hi Mike,

I traded design work for a pair of Simms Guide Weight waders over six years ago, and I am totally satisfied with these breathables, best wader I have ever owned. Not so much as a pinprick leak, and I don't baby waders.

We went through about three sets of Orvis Clearwater breathables for my wife before we gave up on them. Kept returning them to the dealer, but it didn't matter as the basic wader was total crap.

If the Simms ever die, I wouldn't hesitate to replace them with another set of Guide Weights. On a cost/per year basis, this has been a great value.

This topic seems to have resonated a little bit, Since many of us are
constantly looking for the best waders, what do folks here like? Is a
$300 pair of SIMMS waders worth the money.

I currently use a pair of Cabelas 5 mm neoprenes. They are great in
very cold weather but worse than useless from the end of April on, they
are just too darn HOT. I wet wade when the weather warms a bit but that
intermediate season is tough. Do breathables work better? What about
Guide Pants?

Tony,

So; which "breathble" waders are you currently using?
? ?

Just wondering: so i don't waste my time or $$$$$ with
the wrong company.

Actually, I should say, "See ya in

mentioned that you might be attending the Catskill

Eric,

I went through 5 pair of breathable in a years
time. They were all
from the same company that I will not mention on
the list. They
leaked within three or four times I used them.
Each time I up-graded
and spent the extra money along with shipping
charges to send them
back. Finally on the fifth pair, I requested a
refund. I just bought
another pair last week from another company. I
have used them three
times so far and no leaks yet. Will see how they
hold up. On
breathables, I think it is better to patch them
from the inside on
seam leaks and outside on a tear or puncture.

I have had problems with my breathable waders.
My neorenes have
held up for years and are still going strong
with a few patches.
However I have not used the breathable waders
that much and they
already have a huge leak. I've had problems
like this in the past
with breathables.
Does anybody else have the same problem? I
ordered my breathable
waders a size big so I could wear lots of
clothes under it and I'm
wondering if maybe that's why it has a tendency
to get leaks in it.
Also I'm looking to repair my waders and am
looking for some tips.
I've been told that repairing them on the inside
actually works much
better, any comments???
