Hi Everybody,

Just thought I’d share. I took a couple of friends to one of the wadeable-no-boat-required flats in the Upper Keys this morning. Fished the last part of the falling and first part of the rising tides. Not long on the flat my friend hooked & landed a nice 22” bonefish, his first (still waiting for mine). Towards the end of the trip I managed to find a small pod of bonefish and I successfully saw, cast to, and hooked a bonefish. If my tippet hadn’t snapped shortly into the run I might have actually landed him! It was pretty cool though, that was my first successful sightfish & connect to a bone. I dropped my fly right in front of the fish, it backed off, circled and came back to it, I stripped once, he followed, stripped twice and he took it!

Also successfully sightfished, cast to, and hooked a four foot stingray before my brain said “what are you doing!!!” and managed to perform a long distance release (not quite as easy as it sounds, yay for barbless hooks).

All in all, a great day!

Ken (in South Florida).
