EGD dry is an Eastern Green Drake dry fly; I tie mine "fuzzy wing" (pattern below). Send a snail-mail address, and I'll send a small sample of the homemade "EGD" (spring-green) dubbing I use and a sample fly. That offer's open for anyone... I'll be tying them at the Ft. Washington PA show in March, for those who will be there, so that'll help me save on postage.
Pete's EGD Fuzzy Wing:
Size 10-22 dry hook, I use mustad
Thread: primrose or pale yellow
tail: three olive microfibbets, barred with a brown permanent marker
Abdomen: sparkly spring-green (yes, really pastel, yes really) dubbing (50% antron, 50% lamb's wool)
Wing: 1/2 inch of pale-yellow antron yarn, one strand of four, tied folded in half, parachute style, and then frayed (for 1/4 inch total when folded in half)
Hackle: grizzley tied full (not tied parachute style)
head: thread and clear varnish
Easy tie, works wonders (if you can set the hook <VBG>) If you wet or water-log the wing, it fishes *IN* the surface film, always a plus in my experience. Warning, though - only want 1/4" of wing fuzz, doubled over and frayed, or else the fly flips and fishes hook-up... I try everything in my power not to have brain-puncture kills.
Hope that helps you out, and tight wraps,
Pete
