Janet, i know of a cripple pattern that can be applied to just about any mayfly species. Maybe not the very, very little BWO's but just about any other regular mayfly tye. Uses a Goose biot body, CDC wing, and grizzley or whatever hackle....also has a trailing shuck, and a tail. If you get a chance, pick up a copy of the Rene Harrop tying video. It's on that tape. His daughter tyes it, (PMD Last Chance Cripple) on the tape. Each member of the family does at least one fly, and he does quite a few. Great tape. mark.........

My "Still Born" might fit the bill. It is on Byard's site.
It has a trailing shuck and very short wings coming out of the thorax.

Does anyone know a pattern called "Challenged Green Drake"? I believe it's
a green drake partially hatched out. Is this the same as a "cripple"? Is
it the stage before emerger? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks!
