I was at the lake
swinging today. Thought I was going to try those swap stones
again. Suddenly something came too close to resist. It didn't feel like
the usual panic pulling from a fish. It was more like a "pumping"
motion rather than shaking. The size wasn't much to talk about so I soon had it
in front of me and could see what it was... a big fat slimy toad!!! It's
like they say: There has to be a first time for everything. Personally I could
have passed on this one. Later I got a small Crucian Carp... maybe 15
centimetres.
Something is wrong.
Suddenly all species, that you normally don't catch with a fly rod, start
to bite... while the Rainbow Trout, the one that DO take flies, takes a
vacation.
