Jerry, i bought that book from Robert Spaight in '97 at Somerset, (THE biggest fly fishing show in the country in N.J.) and it is a great book. He was here just a couple months ago too, doing research for another book. He got a 19 inch rainbow about 150 yrds downstream from just off our property, a spot i fish all the time. He comes all the way from England and gets a bigger fish than i ever have there. LMAO. He's a really nice guy. You gotta make Somerset someday. mark......

Check your library for the book "International Guide to Fly-Tying Materials" by Clarke and Spaight. It lists all kinds of fly tying materials and sometimes their substitutes. If you buy one be sure to check the printing date for a recent copy.

I'm working my way through the book I bought, and next up is the Morristone...

For the Rib, he suggests:

"Any brown rib--dyed monofilament, Swannendaze (thin), or dubbed thread as examples -- but my favorite is V rib."

Well... I understand dubbed thread and dyed monofilament, but what the heck is Swannendaze and V rib?

Notice I'm not shy posting the idiot questions... :)
