Extremist is being nice. Last Christmas PETA was gong up to children at
the Boston Operas presentation of the Nutcracker and giving them VERY
graphic anti meat and fur pamphlets. They were targeting young children
whos mothers happened to show up wearing leather or fur coats. The
pamphlet then asked the kids to ask their parents why they were
murderers and would they kill my pet for a coat. Very unethical. I
heard a radio interview with the head of PETA in Massachusetts about
this program and the interviewer asked the cheap shot question about who
would he save if his house were burning, his kids or his dog. The guy
actually fell for it and went into a long discussion about how he would
judge the extent of the fire and determine if the dog or child were in
more danger etc. etc. Talk about twisted logic.

OK. Thias is fishing related. PETA has a very large billboard on the
approach Highway to the outer banks in NC trying to stop people from
fishing. A very big part of the outer banks economy. These are truly
dangerous people who have an agenda to wipe out any human activity that
brings us into contact with animals. To them we are a disease to the
planet.

Hi, everyone,
PETA is short for "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals". They
are activists (extremists?) who are supposedly against unethical
treatment of animals, but (in MY opinion) oft take things too far and
are unethical themselves just to make their collective point. Would
they be this way if vegetables screamed when harvested? hmm...
Again, just MY opinion... sick and twisted though it may be...
Perchance my opinion is founded in only the few nuts... err, "bad
apples"... who denounce research and demonstrate outside our lab
building on a daily basis for using animals as research subjects, yet
use medicine that comes about as a result of such tests.
If it wasn't clear before, this is simply MY opinion, and is really
vented frustration at the picket line outside work this AM that needed
police to break up so I could get into work today.
And we should treat fish (and ALL animals) with the utmost respect.
(now fishing related)
Tight lines all,
Pete
