Buy the bear bells at an outdoors shop or buy the golf ball size bells at the hobby store and use Velcro to attach to your pack. Each person needs at least one, two would be good. If you carry pepper spray, know how to use it and have it handy. Once a pepper spray can has been used, get a new one. The scent of the pepper spray will attract bears. I've read of idiots spraying their tents and gear only to come back to camp and find a bear munching on it.

Three weeks ago friends were treed by a mother griz with two cubs at Yellowstone while walking to their fishing spot. One had pepper spray but it was in his back pack. The sow stood up to the tree and didn't climb it. It paced around for 5 minutes and then left. My friends stayed in the tree for another half hour. They also didn't have their bells on and were not talking at the time. They are WY natives and knew better.

Don't worry and fear encountering a bear, they are few and far. Just be bear aware.

I heard you should carry bear spray and a set of small jingle bells. You will know when there is a bear around when the poop you find smells like repellent and has tiny jingle bells in it.
Just could not pass this up.

We plan to visit Glacier extensively. Thanks for the fishing info. I'd heard about the bears, not to fond of them only from a distance.
