I, too, use Dennis Conrads JV hens for all of my soft hackle anymore. They
have really neat thin "stems" and a single spin around the hook is all you
need. Be careful, as not all JV hens are created equal..some from other
suppliers have very thick and non-compliant stems and are the dickens to tie
a neat soft hackle with. Just in case inquiring minds wanted to know. Joyce
