Brief summary of last week in northern BC:

Water was low, making catching more difficult, but fish were just as numerous.

Over 90% of my catches were on dries, but Ill resort to subsurface only when
theres absolutely, positively, and definitely no way to bring the fish up. BC
rules allow only a single fly, so no dry&dropper combos were used.

Virtually all fish were rainbows, with about ten bull trout, a few grayling,
and a few whitefish (including the biggest fattest WF Ive ever caught at about
19).

Dry flies that were the most successful were the Mikulak Sedge, the good old
Klinkhamer, small green Stimulators, and small Paraloops.

All my fancy nymphs were ignored in favor of plain vanilla size 14 GRHEs in
dark gray.

Someone please take a bow I used and lost a swap fly that Id like to know
who tied This was a gold and black cone-head bugger-like creation with black
marabou tail and palmered with a hackle that was painted or gilded with gold
something. This fly got repeatedly hammered until Moby Dick smashed it in the
opposite direction at mid-strip. I was sad to see it go. Would the author of
this pattern please drop me a line?

When youre hiking back out along a trail, its pretty cool to see wolf prints
on top of your inbound footprints.
