Greetings Friends......

Well, its time........ time to start pulling it together for the upcoming culmination of the FF seasons in the Northeast...

time again to begin thinking of

Striperheads!!!!

Some months ago, the clave dates were set, and the faithful have made their reservations and declared their intentions for attending this clave which has grown from a sharing of knowledge and curiosity and excitement of both the experienced saltwater fly fishermen and neophyte freshwater .Many of the original Striperheads clave goers have been returning for a half dozen year, and are hardly neophytes anymore.....

The salt now courses through their veins, and despite the distances and time constraints that prevent these inland fishermen from frequent sojourns to our coastal waters, we continue to come together in an annual gathering in Brewster ... Cape Cod , Massachusetts, to visit with comrades of common adventure, renew old friendships and make new ones, and to fish the Coast in hopes of finding the mental, spiritual and emotional adjustment we all periodically need in our lives.

We come together in fall, hoping to experience the good fishing which the fall striper and bluefish blitzes have to offer, take advantage of diminished crowds and summertime craziness, enjoy and exchange good food and drink, and swap stories of the day and the past year......

We come from many places, the eastern states, the south, Canada, and even Great Britian!!

Please consider joining us again, or for the first time, in September, for what might be one of the highlights of your year..... I know it always is one of mine...

The Striperheads website has been lacking of late, and is now in a revised state, and will continue to be updated :

http://www.stormtree.com/striperheads/

Used in the new front page design is an image of the 40" striper that Aaron Adams snared with his flyrod a couple years ago. SpongeBob caught a 39' er just this past June, BTW.

the links pages has been reviewed and updated, and will continue to be ... new links for striper fishing info, flies, tides and weather have been added...

pictures from the past couple of years will soon be available for viewing , and a general revamping of the site undertaken.

Get interested? want to try ? want to join us? peruse the site to get a feel for the fishing and the fun, make your reservations, (don't wait, it might be too late).. and contact me with info about your attendance dates, site, etc.... This way I can keep the site information current, and it be there as a reference tool for all involved.

Our annual flyswap-of-sorts is something to think about quickly, also.... depending up declared attendees, it will involve the tieing of between 12 and 20 flies to be contributed. Additional "objects of use" may also be contributed for dispersal in what we refer to as the "Striperheads Survival kits" Intended to help out newbies and experienced attendees alike with a variety of flies and fishing paraphernalia, it is a much anticipated part of the weekend/week. I ask that the donations be sent to me by Sept 22nd, so that the kits can be available to all attendees AS they arrive at the clave, and no one is stuck with a logistical nightmare of trying to add late items...

You need to contribute to the kit to receive one.... if you are hosting a new striperheads person, please have him participate, as the kits are mostly for their advantage. Remember, for those who don't tie, or who are so new to the salt, that a dozen or so salt flies are not possible, other trinkets in the same quantity and similar value as the flies are welcome as contributions.

As in past years, the Striperheads also welcomes contributions to the Kits and the general clave raffle from non-attendees... Most years, I am able to supplement the kit with some artwork.... Non attendee contributors are normally compensated in a way of saying thanks with the same artwork or similar momento. You non-attending folks out there that have done this in the past, are well remembered and you generosity appreciated by the continued growing ranks of the group....

Pre setting the contribution number to insure enough kits are available sometimes result in extra Striperheads Survival Kits...... these are keep for future years and used in the Striperheads Raffle... some of the past years' kits will be included in this years raffle....

Don't forget the big Pot Luck Clam Steam for Saturday of the clave.... sometimes held at midday, sometimes in the evening , depending on the tides at the common group fishing ground Brewster Flats. We ask that you bring some kind of contribution for the event, either sharing your culinary skills with the group, or filling in with procurring last minute needed local items such as fresh corn and the like. We have (with the exception of last year) generally been able to have littleneck clams for steaming and eating on the half shell.... I usually pick up the tab for these, and any contributions toward that expenditure from the clam suckers.. (he heh) is greatly appreciated. The actual Pickup of the clams has always been a duty for which I have had a volunteer. We seem to have lost our past clam-picker-uppers to recent life events. The details and duties of getting things running smoothly has always been a somewhat hectic and time consuming thing, and the assignment of this very important duty really need to be assigned to a single individual.. Believe me, you will be a hero and well loved at the event. :^) Anyone interested in helping out in this manner, and being the "Clam Dude" please contact me....

If you folks are interested in attending the clave, and do sign up, you will be added to a communication maillist called Striperheads for use in the lead-in to the clave and general striper fishing info..... If you are unsure of attending, and wish to follow the information exchange about the clave and the saltwater flyfishing, send me an email , and I will gladly add you to the list. Anyone who should be on the list, but has recently changed email addresses, and needs to get back on the list, please do likewise.

take a moment to visit this old page on the site from a previous year, and get the feel for some of what it is about.... viewing it brought me back some....
