In Thurmont Maryland, there is an old fly shop, that once had a very good reputation.
It's located near a lot of good water, and there are no other shops in rational
driving distance. It's on the way out. I don't know if it's for sale, though there
is a sign in the window that says "business for sale, inquire within" but it's only
open when the owner feels like it. Everyone in town laughs when asked about it, or if
there's any way to tell when it's open. The shop used to sell bows, guns, ammo, and
fishing equipment, including Orvis rods. It was a good shop. It's a shame to see it
going down the tubes, and I don't think it's because of lack of business, but rather
from lack of interest on the owner's part. There's parking; it's on main street; got
lots of space, and someone with the right capital could probably make a good business
of it again.
