I've seen them crocheted, kntted, made from a coupke
old belts buckled together, all with essentially
shoestring ends...but I'm cheap...I bought my guitar
29 years ago when I started grad school (this is
making me  feel old...) and bought the strap then, and
still have it.  If I was making my own, I'd probably
ind a nice piece of leather and tool a picture of a
trout or several species of fish on it....
