Received this from a friend of mine from another flyfishing group and found it to be very informative on mending your line...  If you get the chance, check out the video...  It's a free downloadable video and very informative...  The following is what he sent me...
 
I've updated Ultimate Fly Tying (www.ultimateflytying.com) with a
bunch of links to mending (obtaining a drag-free drift).  On a recent
trip to NC, I fished a small mountain stream, basically flipping flies
upstream, and the guide really pushed me to mend constantly.  I
finally learned the importance of mending, particularly in water with
multiple current speeds.

In particular, watch the video that is noted on that page .. it is
very informative.
