Yes, Knox Lake does have fish.  One of its many charms.  

We have often driven in through Cooke City along the Beartooth highway from Red
Lodge but have always stayed on the Yellowstone or the Madison, so I haven't
done any exploring up above Cooke City.  It sure looks like there's lots of
water there.  My impression is that it'll take an ambitious backpack trip to
reach those destinations.  

My preference has been to hike into remote parts of the Yellowstone between
Hellroaring and Gardner.  I also tend to focus on the drainage creeks through
Paradise Valley between Gardner and Livingston.
