Dave (and VFB), I'm actually there "on the road" as we speak. People here have been very nice to me... and now it feels good to do the same thing to someone else. I gave some "recommended" foam flies to a fly-fishing friend in my class yesterday. He then followed me home so I could show him how to tie them. He had never tied with foam before so I also gave him some pieces in different colors to try with. I like the feeling of being nice, so I had to look for more... and saw all the pheasant tail feathers. So he got a couple of those. Then I remembered the mega-piece of elk that Jimi sent me so, of course, he got a piece of that too... and I couldn't really let him leave without also sharing from the fox fur. He then saw a couple of bead-headed nymphs lying on the table and apparently plastic beads was something he never had tried either. With a cross-stitching girlfriend, I have plastic beads enough to outlast a fly-tying NEIGHBOURHOOD... so guess if he went home with a "few".
When he had left, I continued to go through the boxes. Today he got another bag of things I've bought myself, that will last me forever... and things you have given me that will last me forever... and also "samples of samples" (from you). I gather you will be the ones making him happiest, since you are the ones who put the "strange" things in the bag... that HE will now see for the first time. He's on the same place as I was in May, still in the world of "traditional" materials. I'm just helping you to "educate" him too. :o) It's not every day I'm looking forward to go up early and go down to class... But this morning I knew I was going to make someone very glad, so it wasn't much of a problem. /Nick -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Frn: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Fr Dave Campbell Skickat: den 30 september 2004 01:01 Till: [EMAIL PROTECTED] mne: Re: [VFB] Material scraps... I know!! I agree with you on this Nick... I've been overwhelmed the packages I've opened from strangers and found wonderful things to try to tie with... I only hope I can do the same for someone else down the road... -Dave On Wed, 29 Sep 2004 23:06:24 +0200, Niclas Runarsson wrote: > I, for one, can say that a package which scraps can be very > appreciated.
