I think the fish is a driftfish, Psenes sp., Family Nomeidae. I can not assign it with confidence to species level because the picture does not provide sufficient information.

Small mystery fish, see link.
There is a long debate going on over the identification of a mystery fish on the florida sportsman forums. It was caught off of Martha's Vineyard. To me it looks like a cross between a bass and a pompano (which I know doesn't exist).
Anybody have any ideas? Here's the link:
