I've tried 3 times to send this and just realized
that it's just too big for the site to post, so it will be in parts...
Hopefully it will only take 2 parts...
I'm really sorry everyone for not getting this posted earlier, as
requested, I've been kinda overwhelmed with everything going on right now and
haven't had a whole lot of time to do much of anything that I've been wanting to
do... Anyway, here is the recipe for the "Virtual Stonefly" I tied up for
the "Stonefly Swap"... The fly itself was originated by Al Campbell from
"FOAL", in which most of his tying style has been influenced by a couple of "Old
Timers", George Grant and Franz Pott, that used this basic technique to create
stonefly bodies, using various applications of monofilament fishing line to make
it durable...
Materials:
Hook: Nymph, Mustad 80050BR; Tiemco 200R or
equivalent. Size 4 to 8
Thread: 6/0 or 3/0, black
Tail: Black porcupine quill tips, (I used black nail
polish to color them black)
Under-body: Black and orange dubbing topped with
black swiss straw
Under-rib: 4lb test monofilament
Outer-body: Light amber D-Rib
Thorax: Black dubbing
Legs: Black collared peccary hair coated with black
nail polish after bending to shape
Eyes: Black mono nymph eyes. Size small
Antennae: Collared peccary
