Give out a list of materials say for a Royal Wulff BUT dont give the pattern name out. Flies must be tied with the materials from the list. THEN see what comes about.......

Yes, if the pattern is other than the original recipe published by the fly author, it is a variation. But without a sample or photo of the original fly, who's to say? A written recipe is wide open to interpretation.
