True, Keith, true- patterns vs variations of patterns.  But that's another
thread.

But the debait at the moment is which is more effective?  Pattern or
presentation?
What is catching the fish?  The fly or the way the fly is fished?

Is the same variation to all patterns really only a presentation technique
for the original pattern? Is sliding a gold bead down the leader to the fly
any different than putting the bead on the hook, if the pattern is no
different whatsoever?


If the Royal Wulff won't catch fish if it drowns or has drag, but works
better than anything else if fished properly, is it pattern or presentation?
