Well, sounds like you have been busy as well. We had our first freeze
Monday, with a second and third Tuesday and Wednesday. Garden is pretty well
shot. Will let the remainder go to seed and have them for next year. Sent
you a couple off list myself, never heard if you got them, figured you were
busy. Just get ready for winter my friend, your book collection sounds
awesome compared to my little 18 books. But mine get read many times through
the cold months as do what fly fishing mags I have.
Have a good one,
Jimi

Hi Gang!

During the last few days, I've had several "off list" emails asking
about my well-being and why haven't I been putting in my 2 worth on
some of the stuff coming down. No problems here, just awful busy in the
daylight hours doing outside stuff for Jody before bad weather sets in
and tying lots of flies at night for a couple of November deadline swaps.

Also, I've been reading some (very old, collector) fishing books. This
treasure trove came about when some guys wife came in to our local used
book store and sold his collection. The owner, knowing my love for old
fly fishing books called me. Here's what I got : Roderick L.
Haig-Browne's "A River Never Sleeps" 1944, An autographed copy of
"Misadventures of a Fly Fisherman by Jack Hemingway, ( Ernest's
son)-1986, "Just Fishing" by Ray Bergman 1945, Art Flick's "Streamside
Guide" 1969, "The Book of Fishes" John Oliver Le Gorce - 1959, and
"Professional Fly Tying" by George Leonard. Herter - 1941- I now have
all his fly tying / tackle and rod making books.

My fly fishing book collection now stands at 102 and counting, very
small compared to some of the VFB/FFW/HCFF members. The wealth of fly
fishing / tying knowledge in those old books is amazing and most of it
still holds true for trout fishing today, plus there's some down right
good reading , the kind that you want to curl up an read by the
fireplace on a cold winter evening.

The thing that's taken the most of my time though was repairing /
replacing about two miles of fence at the ranch which was really messed
up by the 100 year flood we had a couple weeks ago. I now have
bluegills in my tank, thanks to my neighbor upstream whose tanks
overflowed and washed some of his fish down the intermittent stream that
runs into my tank. Mine was near empty, but now is overflowing. Thank
God for that, if it had been full, I'd have lost all my fence adjacent
to the tank. Haven't seen any bass in it yet, but wouldn't be
surprised if they also show up.

So, that's what I've been doing in addition to sending the Daily Quote
each day.

Have A Goodun!
