A digest version is available and just requires that Byard turn on the
feature. This would allow him to set the number of messages that appear in
each digest. This then allows subscribers to request to only be subscribed
to the digest version which would contain all the emails as a group rather
than individually, thereby cutting down on the number of emails received in
a given day to just one or a few instead of many.

Perhaps someone beside me can suggest this to Byard. I have written him several times in the past without result. He has always just stated that the feature is not available at this time. But, it just has to be turned on by the list owner. It costs nothing and is a majordomo feature. I know, because I moderate several reflectors for ham radio groups that use the majordomo protocol.

George...

While a Majordomo digest feature may be available on your other lists, unfortunately it is NOT available on my server. Never has been and I suspect it never will be.

I do have an alternative list set up that can generate digests and am happy to subscribe anyone who requests that alternative. The downside is that you would have to manually enter the proper sendto address if you wanted to reply to a message. You also would not be able to flip-flop between methods as each change requires my attention as it isn't an integrated system.

Personally, I dislike digest mode because it requires that the user be ever diligent in replying to posts. The subject line gets changed on replies so won't sort properly on mail clients and because of size limits and people's tendency to not edit/cull posted replies, most replies would never make the list.

But if you want digest you can have it...just let me know and I will set you up.
