AK Best has a great looking pattern called a Butt Faced Lemming in his Advanced Fly Tying. Have not tied it yet, but looks like a very tough pattern.

In Alaska they use a big, super mouse pattern..lemming I think they call it. It is like a giant stacked fur double sized mouse, tail and many without any ears or eyes. Works great and the pike take it so that it is smashed almost to pieces after a few fish. Joyce
