I will go out on a limb and say in my
experience they are two different feather shapes. The Magic tool seems to
work best for me with the longer feather fairly same length barbs. Hans
calls these type 4. He uses type 1 CDC - to me they look like a catchers
mitt - for his CDC & Elk.

So should I go with Spirit River, Pettijean or...? I was about to
buy Pettijean's but couldn't remember the advice Hans gave some time
ago. Looking to tie more CDC & Elk and utilize the magic tool.
Do I need two types?
