Buck
I just read this... I'm a little behind on my emails sorry. I grew up
fishing in Michigan as a kid. My family did a lot of fishing and hunting
until we moved from Michigan. My parents still own a farm up there I just
haven't gotten back there in a long time (too long). I'm going to try to go
back to Traverse City this spring to visit my Grandmother.
It is a lot of fun fishing here. We've had an interesting summer. I went
up to the cape fishing with a few of our friends for the Striper Clave in
September. That's a fun trip if you ever want to come up here to fish. A
few of the VFB members make the trip every year. We noticed a lot more
seals this year because of the amount of baitfish we had. That also brought
the sharks closer to shore so it made people more aware of them. They have
recently started using a lot of two handed surf rods up there now. :) I
saw a picture of one of the seals that had washed ashore this summer.
Someone had brought it into the local fly shop. He only had one bite out of
him that's all it took (it was a big bite) but it sure reminded me of my
post earlier. I've had a few friends that have lost their fish to something
bigger. It's not happened to me yet but I've only been catching blues and
dog fish so far. I'm not very good at fly fishing yet but I do enjoy it.
I really hope to get down your way and meet Allan one day soon.
Regards,
Deb

Deb,
Good to here from you. I can't tell you how much we enjoy the fishing
trips to Michigan and the PM river.
The guys enjoy catching the big salmon that come up the river from Lake
Michigan. I know the feeling and I also have sacrificed an eight weight
that broke in two pieces on a salmon I could not begin to turn. Would love
to fish where you fish but don't think that will happen. But maybe you will
write about one of your trips some day. That will be interesting to me to
read all about your fishing trips.

Michigan does have nice fish. I think Jimmy understood my joke because he
knows where I live. I really enjoy the blue fish but if I caught one that
big I'd probably end up swimming. :) Really though ... depending
> upon how far out you're fishing you can end up getting your catch eaten
off

I
