Any significant other who complains you have too much stuff needs to be retrained!! Try putting a tape recorder under the pillow endlessly repeating "fishing stuff is more important than food" and "yes dear whiting necks ARE better than silly diapers". Good luck, failure at retraining can have dire consequences such as entering into bargaining agreements involving "cultural" events and in-laws.
As to the fishing related part of this. I have seen a lot of the more "modern" plastic type materials in flys and I too prefer the more traditional look. I have even seen "flies" in the shop made from molded plastic-might as well be powerbait!!
