Dave, some of the best CDC on this or any other planet comes from Rene Harrop's Trout Hunter, Perhaps Byard can get it for us, at the same price as we can get it from Rene, or less. (???) Byard? Is that possible? mark.....

Good discussion on the Magic Tool... thanks to everyone!

I've got it on my Christmas list... which reminds me...

Byard's got 2 kinds of CDC on Line's End... one is cheaper, and one specifically says it's good for the MagicTool:

Spirit River Ultra Select CDC is 2.25 a pack

Marc Petitjean CDC is 8.95 a pack

The MP packing is larger, but obviously you can get more of a selection for similar money by going with the 2.25 ones... my question is will the Spirit River ones work in the tool or are they too short?

Dave...

The small packs of Spirit River CDC will work well in the smaller of the table clamps. Petitjean's CDC is generally larger (possibly goose CDC?) so is probably more appropriate for the tool. If you're tying smaller flies (14 and smaller) I'd recommend the Spirit River, I think it's a better quality feather.
