Steve, The Magic Tool comes with a wooden equalizers (Marc calls these equalizers, because they allow a cut in small strands of exactly the same size) used for working with Synthetics. Wrap the fiber around the equalizer, several turn (6-8)or more if needed, holding the first turn with your finger. Place the equalizer on the appropriate table, and cut the tag end of the material. Keep your finger on the first turn to keep the material from unraveling. Cut the material with a razor blade at the very top of the equalizer and the material will lay flat on the table in equal lengths. Use a piece of wire to pull the material into the table, Once in the table pull the wire out from either side.

Don't try to compress it as much, and/or mix it with some other fiber. Synthetics, by nature, aren't very squeezable. Make it more like a hackle: parellel fibers, rather than clumped up.
