Spin some deer hair in your color of choice about 2/3 of the shank.
Spin white deer in front of that. Trim the "fly" into a "V" or Mohawk
cut. Add an oversized white or other light hackle, just a couple of
turns.

Probably best imitates the bulk of a beetle; all I know is it works very
well!
