I am glad to see the last one go into the record books. It was an interesting year for us. One filled with setbacks, disappointments and unexpected events. On the bright side, we are still on the right side of the grass and still have all of our appendages. The last few months have been the hardest on us as a point of view. We managed to only get out to fish a couple of times this year, and those were less than we had hoped. We managed to have tied fewer flies than we wanted, but did try some new ideas as well as old reliable. Problems with vehicles and health slowed us quiet a bit and caused delays in much desired brakes and finances have caused problems as well. An injury to my left hand due to me testing gravity in early November has made tying flies almost impossible. It is gradually getting better, but grip and dexterity is still less than 20%, so it will be a bit longer before it is functional enough to be an asset.
But, looking at the brighter side, we hope and plan to allocate at least one weekend a month to chasing our fine finned friends. As a family we have decided that no mater what, we want to get out, camp, fish and relax more than we ever have. One thing in particular is that we hope to get to Ruidoso and the northern part of the state several times. We have deiced to re-organize all of our tying materials and dedicate 1 night a week to family tying time. As it is, Theresa and Amanda will do the tying until my hand is up to speed and functional. I also plan to complete some special tying stations and see what the market will bare on them. Hopefully enough to offset some expenses and provide some regular income. I also hope to make a couple of shows, the Sowbug in particular and enjoy some time with folks meet only on the web with a particular "Fanaticism" common to us all. I hope to build a few custom rods this year and experiment with some new materials in doing so and expand my creativity. As always, we look to the future, the good things and the hopes of brighter warmer days. We also hope and pray that our friends on the group experience life at its fullest this year, have fair winds, calm rivers and perfect casts. May the new year be filled with fine expectations, blessings and prosperity in all realms of your lives. Tight lines, nice fish and tall stories to all.
