Well, one of us is snake bit. Two gloroius 70 degree days.
Two highly regarded guides (both friends so the trips are GRATIS)
and I have caught 4 sea trout and DonO has caught 1 sea-trout and 1 jack.

Our first trip was DonO in a flats canoe being poled all over the famous "No
Motor Zone" (east Coast , south of Cape Kennedy )and me more or less blind
casting from my kayak. We only saw one
tail the entire trip and as that fish showed itself, the only other vessel
we saw the whole day(another Kayak) , paddled right on through the spot and
put the fish down (redfish) We spooked countless fish poling and paddling,
but we did not have another shot.

Next day over to fish south of Tampa out of one of the nicest boats in the
state.- A custom built 23' flats boat. We were fishing for Jacks and
Black Drum. There had been fish in the area for days and we were there
because the fishing had been so good all week.

This trip was extraordinary in that we had manatees all over the place.
At one point two cows and a calf were actually nibbling at a trim tab at the
stern of the boat. And we had a couple of dolphins that put on a "Sea
World" jumping exhibition about 50 feet from our boat. DonO had a seagull
swoop down and pickup his shrimp fly, but he was slow on the hook set so the
gull got away.

Today day we were supposed to go Sailfishing. Last night the guide called
to say that there were no sailfish. In the last two days he had cast to
only two sails and neither of them would bite.... soooo we just sort of hung
out and ate !! SMOKED RIBS !! (and as I watched football, Don has been
restocking my fly box.

Freshwater Shad fishing tomorrow. Then a day on the flats and a night
throwing for snook on the docks on Monday, and then another try for
Sails on Tuesday. I go back to work on Wednesday, and am I have friends
taking Don for trips on Thursday and Friday. Hope to have a bit more
productive day or two this week.

(Ken-- you are around. Left a message on your answering machine)
