Today vefore my meeting here at UMBC, I decided to stop by The Fisherman's Edge owned by the famous Joe Bruce here in Baltimore, MD. Well, First I was amazed that at 12:50 pm Tuesday it would be closed so I knew something wasn't right. I park my car and walk up to it, and lo, everything is in disarry and packing boxes litter the floor where boxes of waders had, and empty peg-board lines the walls where hundreds of feathers and furs and fly-fishing related paraphernalia had given my so many drool sessions and boredom- therapy sessions on rainy days when I visited there. No rods, no reels, even the main counter and the gorgeous mahogany desk in the back are all gone! I just stood there in disbelief for 5 minutes, absorbing that all the information I used to gain about current stream conditions and which fly was hot and which new pattern Joe had invented and which local ffishing guru had come by in the past week was gone forever...

WHY?? I first asked, and realized that people like me, who hadn't been there in more than a year, and who gave Joe a regular $20-$40 per 2 week business weren't coming. Come to think of it, Joe sometimes told me I was the 5th or 6th person in since the morning...not enough business I guess. This is sad though, for I know not of ANY other fly shop remotely close to me where I can find accurate information about stream conditions to 4-5 differet rivers in my area.

Alas, I'll hop onto google and start looking for any shops close enough to me...

ps: any good Smallmouth spots on the Patapsco River??
