Afternoon folks,
Weather is due to take a dump tonight and temps drop again. Thought I
would query the group and see what your preferences are for flies.
This is the scenario, you are visiting a river known for excellent
trout, as well as some waters near by that have bass and pan fish. You are
limited on space so you can only take a number of fly boxes, (not your usual
suitcase full).
What would be the top flies in each category you would not leave home
without? Include variations or specific colors.
Nymphs; Prince, PT, Copper John in various colors, #16-#20
Wets(including emergers and scuds);Thread Midge Olive and Black, RS2 Olive
and Black, Little Brown Bug #18-#22.
Streamers; Woolybugger Black and Olive for trout. Clowser Minnow and
Wollybugger in Chartreuse and White for Warmwater
Dry; Elk Hair Caddis, Adams, BWO, PMD, all natural colors. #16-#20
Terrestrials; Hoppers in various sizes and colors for both trout and
warmwater. Ants, in various colors and sizes. Not really a Terrestrial,
but Poppers with rubber legs in Chartreuse and Black for Warmwater.
