Actually most nail polish remover is a combination of
ethyl acetate and acetone.  Acetone and methyl ethyl
ketone (MEK or 2-butanone) are both ketones with
relatively similar solvent properties.  Acetone has a
bit lower flash point, but both acetone and MEK are
very flammable with relatively low flash points.  In
other words, be careful and make sure there are no
ignition sources near when using them.  MEK will also
evaporate considerably slower than acetone.
