Ouch ... That could hurt. :) Do you wear safety goggles when tying?!

I extended the lever on my renzentti to allow me to tighten it more. I
have
had not chipping but rounding of the edges of the jaws, which causes
flies
to 'pop' out at times, particularly if I take a small bite of the shank
or
i try to pad the shank like with salmon fly hooks.

I haven't had that problem with my Renzetti but you just hit on
the
reason why I don't use it very much anymore. I didn't like how much I
had
to tighten the jaws to get it to hold the hooks. They kept moving when
I
would tighten down my wraps. I have heard of the jaws chipping so I
just
use my Dyna King now for everything except small trout flies and now I
use
the tube fly head on the Renzetti base. That one of the things
Renzetti
did very well. You only have to buy the head of the vise to change it
to a
tube fly vise. I wish Dyna King would've done that so I wouldn't have
to
buy more vises.

I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems with the
jaws on
a Renzetti chipping??? Most of the flys I tye are in the size range of
a
#20 to a #26 and the other day I noticed that the jaws on my "Renzetti
Travler" were chipped... Now I do tighten the jaws down pretty good
because
I hate it when I'm trying to make some "tight" wraps and the hook turns
in
the vise...

Thanks for your comments in advance...
