Good scissors will last longer than cheap scisors if they aint abused. Several pair of scissors realy dont take up that much room on the tying desk. Mine all get resharpened with a diamond hone till they are worn away or the hinge goes loose. As Dono said - oil the hinge.

Lying on my desk now are :-
2 pair hairdressing scissors for deer hair and larger feathers.
1 strait and 1 curved surgical iris scisors for dry flies and other delicate work.
1 pair toe nail scissors for rough work and cutting wires and metal tinsels.
1 pair heavy kitchen scissors for paper card plastics etc.
1 razor edged craft knife with replacable blades for cutting all kevlar

This brings up a new question, haven't seen it before, and it affects all flytiers. Do you sharpen your scissors when they get dull or do you buy new scissors?
