Like Rene,
I tie up my own leades generally.. mainly from a few sections of Maxima.
I occaisionally buy tapered leaders, mainly becuase I reuse the butts for my own leaders, once the tip section os too short..

I usually knot my leaders by myself.
For the butt sections (where the material is thicker) I use what I have on hand. Usually some stiffer material.
At the tip I use the same brand as for the tippets - Stroft from Waku. Company is located in Germany (Berlin), I don't know if they manufacture the stuff there or if they are a dealer only.
The nylon is coated with teflon, very soft and strong. The knots are very strong, because the teflon lubricates them.

I've been looking through all the new catalogs and thinking about my leader/tippet set up. I've always just bought what ever the price was right on, but am now thinking more along the lines of performance. In particular I've been looking at the frogs hair brand. What are the groups thoughts and opinions on this subject? Have you used frogs hair? And if so what is your take on this brand? do you have a brand that you prefer or like me just what the pocket book allows?
