I simply *LOVE* Gamakatsu (thanks for introducing me to them!), and daiichi aren't bad either. I do have a preference for Mustad/ Partridge, but that's just my preference. Seem to be 'sturdier', at the cost of sharpness and wire-thickness (they are much thicker, or at very least heavier for the same size/style).
Just my personal opinion, feel free to disagree. My highest motivator in judging is the outta-pocket cost...
Tight wraps,
Pete

Pete, i like the thin/light wire for dry flies, and i've never had one break
or bend open.... not yet anyway. Not all their models are like that, but the
ones that are, are nice. It's good to have that option. All models have
their assets. I still have some of my old Mustad's left, and some Partridge,
some Orvis, some Eagal Claw, etc., etc., etc.....but since we're getting the
Daiichi and Gamakutsu hooks free now, i guess we'll stay with them. BTW, i'm
still looking to swap saltwater hooks for salmon hooks if anyone has any to
trade. I'm mostly interested in LARGE (3/0 on up to 8/0) blind eye salmon
hooks, and spey hooks.....low water light wire salmon hooks as well, for
tying dries. mark
