I think the second or third time I tied a deceiver or a splayed Tarpon fly
and had the middle feather twist I said well, it might not be what a show
tier would do, but I bet a little soft-tex would hold those suckers LOCK
TITE !!!  I have been dippin' ever since !!

I really like my flies to look "great", but I don't much care what short
cuts or methods I use.  I won't win many tying competitions, but my flies
look good, catch fish and stay together.  I didn't know it was Blanton
technique I was using, but I have to say it works GREAT.  And I also do a
bunch at once and let the opposing pairs dry next to one another and then I
bag them as a pair.
