Better yet.... Rope dub your peacock herl (that's the best way I can
explain it to those who know rope dubbing). Wrap your peacock herl around a
piece of thread and then wrap that around the hook shank. Then it will last
through more than a couple fish.

After seeing that Yaller Hammer pattern on the fly tying world site, i would
reccommend you to at least use two peacock herls, and wrap one first and
then the other thru it for durability. Fish sure as hell isn't gonna mind,
and the fly will hold up longer. One herl will be busted on you after the
first fish. Maybe a little bit of very fine gold wire (wraped thru) might
help as well. Help sink it and the extra bulk (of an added herl) is good for
splaying the hackle anyway. Good luck. mark.....
Yeah, that'll also work. At least it's more durable that way too. Oh Del,
somebody put up a url for you to go to and get a recipe. You miss it? Had a
peracock herl thorax, but with only a single herl and no strenthining (cool
word spellin', lol), so i was just helpin' ya. Good luck. mark
