Fun web-site Byard. Reminds me of all the tapes i use to get in the mail all the time from people all over the country and beyond...just hoping and praying i could get them a record date. Usually i just critiqued their demos and sent them encouragement..........never to be heard from again. The music business is a very tough business to succed in. There are litterally scads of people with talent out here....but to really make it, at least in the Jazz world, you need more. For the most part, you need a gift. And there's a serious diff. And even then, you need the willingness to pay some SERIOUS dues, the ability to put yourself in the right place at the right time, and the physicall and metal toughness to survive. The compitetion is fierce. So the social skills that are needed are pretty rough too. The bottom line is the fact that music, and the music business, have basically NOTHING to do with eachother, not intrinsically, not spiritually, or any other way. But, they are forced to be in bed together. As we say, "Rough Out Here." And it's worser than ever. Most lables are run by lawyers and accountants nowdays. Who don't know a whole note from notepad. I wish her good luck. mark.....
