Spoke with HRS's good friend and mayfly expert Stephen Hiner yesterday regarding Harrison Steeves' secret material. Stephen was pretty firm about Harrison not revealing the secret, nor would he. Can't blame em. I could probably make the stuff if I had time though as I know enough about adhesives and plastics from my OP days.

Mark:
I did find something by 3M called Clear Mounting Squares, that if it were
available in sheet form instead of half inch squares would make a decent sub.
I enjoy playing with it, just have to move away from the pattern trend set
by Harry's partner. The Gummy Minnow really isn't a bait fish imitation, but
soft plastic imitation and all the patterns I've seen have the extended body
which I don't like. I do more warm water fishing than cold water, so I'm
always working to come up with more realistic bait fish. There was an article
in one of the fly tying magazines a month or two ago where Harry Steeves tied
up a real nice looking Stonefly nymph using the stuff that I plan on adding
to my box.

Actually, the biggest playeers in silicone based
technologies are Dow Corning and General Electric. 3M
has a few products but not near as many as Dow Corning
and GE. The stuff feals like a very lightly
crosslinked silicone, but I've not played with it,only
received afew flies. Still not sure if it's something
I want to fool with.
