How is that they say..... "Imitation is the highest form of flattery!"
I hope I got that right. Ya see a lot of that in fly-tying. :0)
Speaking of which... they loved Ginger's eyes at the last show. They hadn't
heard of her this far north but they will remember her tulip paint eyes and
coffee can lid. Some people still paint the eyes on their classic Maine
streamers and if you make a mistake on the fly you can ruin it so they liked
the idea of making them on the coffee can lid and then putting them on the
fly. So I'm giving Ginger some recognition up north. :) I can get away
with this... I'm a teacher I don't claim to be an innovator. I'll leave
that up to the other guys to fight over.
I hate to say I've thought of anything new. I may have never heard of
someone using it before but more times than I can tell you I've stumbled
across something I'm doing in a book that I've never read. I showed my
husband an older English book I picked up off Ebay where the guy was tying
his tube flies on lolly pop sticks. All of my sectional tubes were first
tied on blow pop sticks. My husband laughs at me because I have the kids
trained now to bring me any plastic hollow sticks they have left from their
candy. Except now my older son wants to tie tube flies. There's too much
competition in this house. :0)
