Subject: [VFB] QUOTE FOR THE DAY Date: Wed, 09 Mar 2005 08:06:38 -0600
If we aren't too much of a purist to admit it, many of us fly fishers started out as a bait fisherman, either cane pole and a worm as a boy, or casting / spinning rod. There's an old quote that I can't quite remember about former bait casters having a leg up on fly fishermen who never bait fished. Maybe one of you will remember it and share.

Started with worms and salmon eggs Jimmy. Would use catapillers, grubs,
anything just about. First decent rod was a spin/cast. You know, thumb on
the button. Then a "real" flip bail. Never did have a bait cast/level wind.
Fly is where it's at though. Just something about casting the line and NOT
the weight on the end of it. mark.....
