I sent Byard a picture of some flys he tied a good while ago I have here in my special box. The jpeg was fair at best as my photography skills are not real good. Byard could tell that he was the tyer by the wood duck feathers and the hook. Unbelievable! Imagine him looking at any flys I tie with a "Fred the Chicken" cree feather. My goose would be cooked. And how could he figure out the hooks, except that they were black up eyes? You couldn't see the bend or anything beyond that.
