Rodney,
That is correct. To fish the White where trout are stocked you do need the trout permit. The trout permit is good for 1 year from the date of purchase. It used to be that if you did not keep any trout, you did not have to have the trout permit. Like always happens, it was abused.
If you stay at the park, you can fish the trophy area there. Be sure the barb is all the way down and will not catch on your shirt. That is a good way to check it. It is a C&R area with big trout. My friend fished it Sunday. C&R over 50 trout to 22". Now this is not an everyday thing, he is a real trout fisherman and the trout jump on his fly. He will out fish me 10 to 1.. He has offered to take some of the tyers fishing up there if they shut down the dam and he is available. He is my tying Co Chairman and I do have things for him to do. If you get to go with him, he will also have Gordon Mackenzie with him.

Tony,
I was checking out the "Arkansas Game & Fish License Information" and I think I read this correctly, but could you verify this for me please?
Nonresident Trout Permit = $12.00
Nonresident 3-Day Trip Fishing License = $11.00
and you have to have both????
We'll be leaving here, Albuquerque, sometime around 3:00 PM Tuesday afternoon, which should put us in Mtn. Home around 6:00 or 7:00 AM Wednesday morning. I downloaded and printed out the info on "Bull Shoals - White River State Park" and that's where we'll probably be staying. I would love to do some fishing on the White River while I'm there. Any comments, suggestions??
Rodney...
