I know some of you put conditions on being in the "First IOFF" swap so I am
posting all 21 that are yeses and maybes. Will those who are opting out please
contact me off list. I'm guessing we will end up with about 18-20 flys to tie
apiece between stragglers and those opting out. I'll put a limit on the
participants at 25 so you can decide if you can tie that many by July 31st.
Those who absolutely can't be done by this time may sign up for IOFF 2 (limit
25 again) which will be due December 31, 2005. It would be great if we had 25
in #1 and the other 25 in #2 to get everyone involved. Then next year we could
have smaller swaps 3 and 4 to match those who had not swapped yet with each
other. Let's get #1 underway before going there yet.
Since I am hosting my umpteenth swap, I've decided to make the new rules simple
but on theme remembering what worked well before. Here's the tentative list I
have with a March 25th sign-up deadline in deference to Sowbug and the elusive
President DonO who is undercover:Dave MurphyRob PoutreRodney

RULES, yes I did change them a bit. (Deadline to sign up is March 25th)Rule #1-
Tie (max of 25) flys that reflect your style and be attractive in a shadow box
surrounding the IOFF certificate. While patterns that are overly simplistic
(worms & IOBOs for example) don't lend themselves to this swap, the idea is to
tie a pattern that is a fish catcher. Commraderie is what this is about so
just do your best and don't worry if you don't tie as fancy as the next
tyer.Rule #2- Due July 31, 2005 (end of the Tricos). That's only 1 fly a week
roughly! Slip in an altoids tin or cheap flybox with your name on it so I can
return your set in the same box with $1.50 US cash to cover postage and jiffy
bag. Non-US tyers to tell me mailing rules of your country and consider a bit
more postage.Rule #3- Fly size should be such that they will easily be seen in
a shadow box, from size 14 to size 8 roughly? Take into consideration that a
size 6 4xl streamer might be too big while a size 16 mosquitoe might be a bit
sparse. Just tie your first fly, put your certificate on the table, lay your
fly to the side of it and imagine 50 of the same surrounding it as I hope to
continue IOFF swaps until ever member is represented one day.Rule #4- Toe tags
with your name and pattern name on each fly.Rule #5- Signature in cursive on
white paper in black ink with a of appropriate size with the fly name printed
below. I'll scan for a little something extra.Rule #6- Self-adhesive mailing
label with your name and address in 14 point or larger type, or send me a text
file with your name and address to [EMAIL PROTECTED] off list.
I can't think if I forgot anything else so email me off list if I did. I will
have some surprises for all participants when your flys are returned promptly
so look carefully in the envelope. Be on time please.
