Possibly, he did write a couple of other off topic books. How to quit
the rat race and live on $10 a day. ,etc.

Another Kelson?? I'm leaning towards old George being wacky also....
The prize brook trout caught in July of 1924 in the Rangeley area was
caught by Mrs Wallace C Stevens..... also known as Carrie Stevens. In
her correspondence to JD Bates though she claimed it was credited in
error to a Gray Ghost and that it was actually caught on a predecessor
to the Gray Ghost, a Rangley Favorite. Thus the plaque in Rangeley is
in error. Austin Hogan describes this fly as a "Gray Ghost in embryo".
That is probably what caused the confusion in the fly that was used. It
was a friend of Carries, Frank Bugbee that was credited with naming the
Gray Ghost. I don't think
all of this is coincidence. Carrie did pass on the Gray Ghost as part
of
her patterns when she sold her company.
Politics on Herters part.... probably. Hmmm??

Just keep in mind that ole George was first and foremost a self
promoter and took hyperbole to a high art. Anyone who has read more
than ten pages of George's writings knows to pull up their boots, get
out the big shovel reach for the salt! Even B.T. Barnum could have
taken lessons from him. Must admit he is a fun read.
