Mike,

I use lots of Flex-o and have a page on my website for Flex-o flies.
Flex-o
is the fly-market arm of a product called Tech-flex, which is
cable-covering. It like a Chinese finger-trap- expands when you
compress it
end-to-end, or shrinks in diameter when you stretch it out. It comes in
a
myrial of styles and colors, but only a few are adaptable to flyfishing.
I
have a good relationship with the factory and buy it wholesale in
hundred
yard spools, but I only get the 3/8 and 1/2" silver, and most of my
minnows
are made with this for salt water, and my art flies (Ask Deb about
Charlie
the Tuna). I have a drawer full of other types, styles, and colors, and
pieces of the 2.5" clear mono style that I make my giant bass creations
out
of.

If you want a sample to play with, send me your mailing address and I'll
send you a foot of it -3/8 or 1/2" to play with. You won't find it
retail
as far as I know. I've seen a few patterns on the internet, but not
enough
to make it a popular material.

If there is enough interest, I could do an instruction article on the
vfb
home page for Flex-o, and Byard could get set up to sell the material.
It
just wouldn't justify it if only a couple of people were interested.

What can be tied with Flex-o? Minnows from 1" long to 10" long, squids,
crabs, & shrimp. So it's mostly a saltwater market item.

I have a photo of a bunch of minnows that I don't have on my website. I
could email it to you if you are interested.
