You guessed it. It took us 4 hours to go from Anton Chico, on US 84, just south of Las Vegas, up I-25 to Cimarron @ 35 mph. Almost white out conditions all the way. Made it to Philmont around 9 p.m. There was already 10" of snow on the ground. Woke up Tuesday morning to 24" total with 5 foot drifts. Needless to say, we didn't fish any. Took lots of great photos of the snow storm. The people in Cimarron said this was the biggest snow in 30 years. I believe it.

I'll post the photos on my fly fishing website tomorrow so all can see how really bad it was. We were very lucky not to have gotten stranded for they closed I-25 shortly after we turned off on NM 58 just above Springer.

More Later.

Jimmy D is supposed to be either on his way, or at Philmont right now. Hope
he is OK and not trapped on the road in the snow. Did you see any video of a
man with a fly rod practice casting in the snow???

Jimi, I think you have the right idea, STAYING WARM... LOL... Just listening to the news/weather report on T.V. and they have no idea when I-40 will reopen... There's HUNDREDS of semi-trucks backed up on I - 40 and the Tramway exit waiting to head Eastbound... Their also saying I-40 won't reopen for at least the next 8 to 10 hours...
